All over this planet we are losing vast amounts of trees every day due to a variety of factors. As the world’s population grows we are expanding into areas and extracting resources from previously unused regions. This population growth as well as the industrialization of poor countries (China and India) is causing a drastic increase in the release of not only pollutants but also of Carbon into the atmosphere.
As industrialized nations we are very aware of the devastation being inflicted onto the world’s rainforests. But do we ever consider our role in this?
Do we feel the same distress when we see a farmer clearing forested land in North America to provide themselves with more pasture or the removal of trees to provide room for the expansion of cities? How much of Europe is now covered by trees? |

The mountain pine beetle is devastating the pine forests of Canada, while forest fires, resource extraction, human consumption and the byproducts of human progression and expansion destroy countless numbers of trees every day.

Our mission at MYCARBONCURE is to provide an individual person with a concrete way in which they can initiate positive changes to the planet. We hope that by providing this service, we we will not only help you offset your individual carbon footprint but we will have given you that ever important first step in the "where do I even start" dilemma facing a great number of people that want to tackle the environmental problems affecting our planet. We hope that this is not the only step that an individual will take in helping save the earth but that it is a measurable way to start the journey.
The absorption of carbon is not the only area where trees are important for humans and the earth. To put it bluntly, trees are the lungs of the planet. Trees absorb CO2 and release oxygen much like our lungs. They also help retain soil and water while providing habitat to a variety of other plants and animals. Trees also provide shade and act as a wind break while filtering contaminants from the air and soil.
The way MYCARBONCURE works is that we provide individuals with an opportunity to have a tree or trees planted in their name on cleared land that we have purchased in order to create a protected area. This land is currently being used as pasture for cattle and as a hay field. By using our carbon calculator you will be able to calculate your carbon footprint and the corresponding number of trees that will offset your footprint. Choosing from a list of native trees you can then decide on the types of trees that you wish to have planted in your name. The trees will be planted with a marker indicating the name of the person they have been planted for and the GPS coordinates. The seedlings will be protected from overgrowth, drought and other environmental factors for the first two years. Once the purchased plot of land has been completely reforested it will be kept as a protected space and the trees will not be harvested.
